CodeAcademy - week 2

Code Academy week 2 aka “the head explosions” or “head explosions unleashed”. Hehehe, ahhhhhh, Jeff Cohen you sneaky man you…I see what you’re doin’ now, I see you. Ok so I should really have been logging in on a daly basis on what’s been happening here at CA. I thought about it…Code Academy week 2.3 (Tuesday) and 2.5 (Thursday) ,2.7(Sat) you get the idea. Maybe I’ll do that next series of post for next week…ok on with the head exploadingness. (HAHAHA my autocorrect is freaking out on “explaodingness” hahaha.)

Ok so all of us in the “Advanced” class for CA (just means we had some experience coding before) we’re all like JEFF! we need MOOOORE turn up the speed daddy we wanna go faster. And Mr. Cohen obliged us, well….he started talking about “Web Application Development”, “Computer Programming”, “Web Programming” and the “Ruby Programming” …He tossed at us Classes, Objects and Instance Variables and then….he spoke of…..(dramatic music here please)….”Rails Programming”. We dived into something called Rails Routing to understand how Rails handles what files are viewed via a controller interacting with a view and a model. Oh, I’m geting ahead fo myself, we learned a new Holy Mantra…MVC….MVC….MVC…(do that a 105 more times).

I want to go into what MVC is but you will have to google it. I only got 5mins left on my Pomodoro Clock to type this out and I type …not too fast. So….All these thing Jeff talked about on Tuesday…and we in the class were overwhelmed. We were trying to follow him code line by code line in our on textmate windows….we should have just been listening. That’s what he wanted us to do….for when Jeff got to Thursday….he brought all he had showed us…step by step…bit by bit… all we could do by hand the long way in say two days worth of work….He showed us how to do it all …in-one-line-of-code…

SCANNERS!

He then showed us sql manipulations and Rails forms work that I personally know would take days worth of work the old non-ROR way using PHP or ASP….in-one-line-of-code….

SCANNERS!

Ok, there’s more but my clock just buzzed so i’m out. I’ll just say there were at least two more…

SCANNERS!

SCANNERS!

ok I’m done…see you next week.
